Between our visits, you can check the conditions around the system. These observations are useful because they show us what changed without asking you to open a panel or work on a component.
Check it monthly, or follow the interval and instructions for your equipment. A heavily loaded filter can restrict airflow.
Confirm it has power, is set to the intended mode, and shows a reasonable room temperature. Report a blank or unresponsive screen.
Open supply registers and returns. Move furniture, rugs, storage, leaves, grass, and snow away from the equipment and air path.
Notice moisture, staining, or a drain concern near indoor equipment. Do not open panels or work around live electrical, gas, or refrigerant components.
Note new sounds, weak airflow, unusual run time, room comfort changes, and whether the change appears in heating, cooling, or both.
Stop there. Refrigerant, live electrical parts, gas connections, combustion components, and sealed controls are ours to check, not yours. Bypassing a safety switch or resetting a breaker over and over isn't maintenance.
